10 Years as the Leading Communications Journal in Organic Chemistry - 2008 marks the 10th year of publication for Organic Letters, the highest impact communications journal in the field of Organic Chemistry. Publishing brief reports on cutting-edge research, creative approaches, and innovative ideas in a broad range of organic chemistry research to be quickly shared with other scientists, the journal quickly established itself as a leader in the field through the vision of founding Editor-in-Chief, Amos B. Smith III and his Associate Editors.
Organic Letters serves as the international forum for the communication of important research in all branches of the theory and practice of:
- Organic chemistry (including organometallic and materials chemistry)
- Physical and theoretical organic chemistry
- Natural products isolation and synthesis
- New synthetic methodology
- Bioorganic and medicinal chemistry
Since 1999, Organic Letters has published more than 10,000 Letters and received more than 100,000 total citations, securing its ranking among the leading journals in Organic Chemistry. Among the 56 journals listed in the Organic Chemistry category in the most recent Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Report, Organic Letters ranks in the top 5 journals overall in Impact Factor (#4), Total Citations (#4), Immediacy Index (#3), and Articles (#3), a testament to the authors and reviewers that have contributed to the journal since 1999.
"Certainly all of us at Organic Letters and the ACS Publications Division are extremely proud of these accomplishments, but clearly the true credit goes to the Chemical Community for strongly embracing the goals we set forth in 1999 for Organic Letters. As stated then, and is ever more true today: This is indeed exactly where you want to be!"
Amos B. Smith, III
Editor-in-Chief
