Diode-pumped efficient Yb:YGdVO(4) thin-disk laser

[摘要]We report for the first time a continuous wave Yb(0.06):Y(0.32)Gd(0.62)VO(4) (Yb:YGdVO(4)) laser, based on the (2)F(5/2)-(2)F(7/2) transition. The free running Yb:YGdVO(4) thin-disk laser oscillation takes place at many different wavelengths, covering a wide range of 1037.0-1042.2, 1028.4-1040.2, and 1021.9-1031.2 nm, for transmissions 0.5%, 1.0%, and 2.0%, respectively. As in the case of the 0.2 mm thick a-cut Yb:YGdVO(4) the most efficient laser operation was achieved employing the coupler of 0.5%, producing a maximum output power of 2.25 W which gives an optical-to-optical efficiency of 21.2%, the slope efficiency being 37.3%.
