Ligand oxidation of a deprotonated bis(picolyl)amine IrI(cod) complex.

[摘要]Innocent until proven guilty: The bis(2-picolyl)amine (bpa) and related poly(picolyl)amine ligands might not be as innocent as they seem. A double deprotonation of the amine and one of the methylene protons of [Ir(bpa)(cod)]+ is unexpectedly easy and yields the anionic complex [Ir(bpa-2H)(cod)]-, which is subsequently oxidized to the ligand-centered radical [Ir(bpa-2H)(cod)]. even in the air.
