Electron transfer in pristine and functionalised single-walled carbon nanotubes.

[摘要]electronic uniqueness, C nanotubes are proposed either as bulk electrode materials for sensing and biosensing in advanced electrochem. devices, or as mol.-sized electrodes for very fast electrode kinetics studies. Alternatively, electron transfer was used to probe the electronic properties of C nanotubes by either direct voltammetric inspection or coupling with spectroscopic techniques, ultimately allowing, in the case of true solns. of individual uncut single-walled C nanotubes (SWNTs), to single-out their redox potentials as a function of diam. For their redox properties, as emerged SWNTs represent unique building blocks for the construction of photofunctional nanosystems to be used in efficient light energy conversion devices.
