[摘要]：(I), a clin. available alkaloid for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment, oxidn. of sinomenine provided two unique stereoisomers, disinomenines II and III. The structure of III was detd. by MS, NMR, and X-ray anal. The formation of II and III via oxidn. of sinomenine by potassium permanganate (KMnO4) exhibited a pH-dependent stereoselectivity. The bioassay results using human synovial sarcoma cells (SW982) showed that II inhibited, while III stimulated, IL-6 prodn.
