Salaprinol and ponkoranol with thio-sugar sulfonium sulfate structure from Slacia prinoides and a-glucosidase inhibitory activity of ponkoranol and kotalanol desulfate.

[摘要]The methanolic ext. from the roots and stems of Indian Salacia prinoides and its water-eluted fraction of Diaion HP-20 column were found to exhibit inhibitory activities against a-glucosidase. From the water-eluted fraction, two new unique constituents with thio-sugar sulfonium sulfate, salaprinol (I) and ponkoranol (II), were isolated together with 10 known constituents including salacinol and kotalanol. The structures of I and II were elucidated on the basis of chem. and physicochem. evidence. Furthermore, l II and kotalanol desulfate were found to show potent inhibitory activities against a-glucosidase.
