Potentiality of using the singular approach for analysis of rough surfaces polarization-inhomogeneous laser images in diagnostics and classification of their optical properties

[摘要]The results of investigation aimed at analysis of coordinate distributions for azimuths and ellipticity of polarization (polarization maps) in laser images of three types of phase-inhomogeneous layers are presented in this research, namely: rough, ground and bulk-scattering layers. Three groups of parameters: statistical moments of the first to fourth orders, auto-correlation functions, logarithmic dependences for power spectra related to distributions of azimuths and ellipticity of polarization inherent to phase-inhomogeneous layers laser images are suggested to characterize polarization maps for all the types of phase-inhomogeneous layers. The criteria for diagnostics and classification of phase-inhomogeneous layers optical properties are ascertained. (C) 2012 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
