b-Keto esters derived from 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethanol: an orthogonal protective group for b-keto esters.

[摘要]b-Keto esters derived from Me3Si(CH2)2OH undergo cleavage and decarboxylation when treated with 0.75 equiv Bu4NF.3H2O in THF at 50? while b-keto esters derived from MeOH, Me3COH, allyl alc., or PhCH2OH stay intact. Conversely, Me, tert-Bu, allyl, or benzyl b-keto esters can be cleaved and decarboxylated without the 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl b-keto esters being affected. Similarly, mixed bis(b-keto esters) derived from Me3Si(CH2)2OH and MeOH, tert-Bu alc., allyl alc., or PhCH2OH can be defunctionalized chemoselectively under the same reaction conditions.
