[摘要]:A series of Mannich bases, 2-(1H-benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)phenols were synthesized in good yields, in a single pot by the Mannich reaction of 6H,13H-5:12,7:14-dimethanedibenzo[d,i][1,3,6,8]tetraazecine and phenols at 150?under solvent-free conditions. The mechanism of formation of these Mannich bases and their subsequent thermal decompn. into 1H-benzimidazole and the resp. 2-methylphenols via an ortho-quinone-methide intermediate are also discussed.
