[摘要]The incidence of infections caused by Candida species (i.e., candidiasis) has markedly increased in recent years due in part to the expanding population of immunocompromised individuals. Current treatment options for candidiasis vary depending upon the immunocompetence of the individual, the severity of infection and the particular infectious strain responsible for the infection. Polyene, azole, triazole and echinocandin antifungals are currently available for the treatment of Candida infections. However, resistance of Candida species to existing antifungal agents is an increasingly common problem and it is suspected that selective pressure will result in more widespread resistance in the near future. Combination antifungal therapy incorporating drugs with complementary mechanisms of action may reduce drug resistance while improving antifungal efficacy. Thus, researchers actively continue to search for effective treatments for candidiasis, with special attention given to the identification of novel targets for therapeutic intervention. This article presents those drug targets that are currently under active investigation for the treatment of candidiasis.
