Expedient synthetic transformation of ptychantins into forskolin.

[摘要]：Forskolin was synthesized in 11 steps with a 17% overall yield from ptychantins A and B, which were isolated from the liverwort Ptychanthus striatus in good yield. The 1a-hydroxy group was furnished by stereoselective redn. of the corresponding carbonyl group by NaBH3CN. The 9a-hydroxy group was introduced stereoselectively by epoxidn. of the D9,11-enol ether.
