Cerium (IV) Ammonium Nitrate as an Efficient Lewis Acid for the One-Pot Synthesis of 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones and Their Corresponding 2-(1H) Thiones

[摘要]：A simple and highly efficient procedure for the Biginelli condensation reaction of aldehydes, beta-ketoesters, urea, or thiourea catalyzed by Ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as a Lewis-acid at ambient temperature is described. The procedure proved to be simple and of high yield.
