Reaction of Benzyne with Salicylaldehydes: General Synthesis of Xanthenes, Xanthones, and Xanthols.

[摘要]：The reaction of salicylaldehydes with benzyne prepd. from o-trimethylsilylphenyl triflate and CsF gave xanthenes and xanthones. When the reaction was carried out under basic conditions, 9-hydroxyxanthenes (xanthols) were obtained in good yields.
